Comfort, fit and reliability are key properties for diapers, training pants, adult incontinence and feminine care products.  To attain these desired performance features, many manufacturers of elastic films, nonwoven fabrics and, ultimately, completed products, rely on Kraton Polymers elastomers.

Kraton retains its ever-expanding role as a preferred supplier for the personal hygiene industry because we continually improve the thermoplastic elastomers in our product family.  As manufacturers design new diapers, disposable adult undergarments and feminine care products, for example, we provide the technical support and next-generation polymers that meet customers' changing needs.

Among the newest generation SBC polymers from Kraton are products that:

  • Offer stretch functionality via multiple processing technologies including blown or cast films as well as spunbond or meltblown nonwoven fabrics.
  • Process readily on standard equipment
  • Produce elastic films and fabrics with unprecedented soft stretch, comfort feel and excellent fit.
  • Perform as elastic cores for high-strength polypropylene yarns
  • Act as high-stretch, cost-effective alternatives to conventional materials.

A variety of Kraton Polymers product families support the production of personal hygiene products.

Kraton® D styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymers are economical materials that exhibit good strength with a range of hardnesses for cost-efficient production of elastic films.  The products feature low viscosities for easy thermoplastic melt processing or processing in solution.

Kraton Construction Adhesives are formulated using Kraton D SBS and SIS thermoplastic elastomers as well as Kraton G SEBS polymers.  The range of viscosities and mechanical performance properties attainable from the different polymer chemistries produces a versatile family of adhesives for manufacturing personal hygiene products.  For example, construction adhesives with high cohesion strength are designed for producing super-absorbent diapers, tampons and sanitary napkins and adult incontinence undergarments.  Attachment adhesives with good flexibility and adhesion for polyethylene and polypropylene bond elastic thread to nonwovens films for diaper waist and leg bands.
