Medical Bandages

Many self-sticking medical bandages use natural rubber latex for their adhesive raw material offering adhesion to the bandage itself but not to the patient's skin.  Historically this has been a somewhat unique property but the risk of Type I allergy to the natural rubber latex has created a demand for an alternative synthetic adhesive.  Kraton® IR-401 latex appears to be a perfect alternative.

Medical Rubber Articles

Medical rubber articles such as bottle stoppers, resealable discs, tube connectors, syringe plungers, needle shields and baby nipples require various properties such as low extractable matters, resealability after puncture, sterilization resistance, and flow properties for injection molding. Kraton® IR polymers offer an excellent alternative to natural rubber for these needs.

Physiotherapy Bands

Consistency in tensile strength is essential to avoid breakage incidents during physiotherapy training.  Likewise, consistent modulus allows production of bands with diverse specifications for the various steps of re‑education through physical therapy.  Low tensile set and avoidance of Type I allergy risk can also be important. Kraton® IR-401 latex is the right material to replace natural rubber latex in these applications.

Dental Dams

Dental dams are produced via a heat coagulation calendering process requiring consistent gel formation characteristics. Tear resistance is of utmost importance. If you wish to produce synthetic dental dams matching specifications of natural rubber latex dams, select Kraton® IR-401 latex.

Probe Covers

Probe covers are produced via the "straight dipping" process requiring top quality raw materials having the right viscosity/solids content balance. Kraton® IR-401 latex is the perfect candidate to produce such natural rubber latex-free articles.

Surgical Drapes and Fluid Handling Systems

Medical film products such as surgical drapes and fluid handling systems use our polymers to introduce specific degrees of elasticity in order to improve performance.
