Medical Applications

IV Solution Bags

ERS SEBS are used as mono-layer films, single film layers in a multi-layer bag wall or dry-blended with a polyolefin like polypropylene for the manufacture of medical bags intended to hold IV fluids.  For PVC replacement, products such as certain Kraton® G compounds are often used to build up a 200-micron Coextruded Blown Film.

Key properties of ERS SEBS with (or without PP) are:

  • Transparency
  • Heat resistance for sterilization (Steam: 121°C for 20-30 min.)
  • Good flexibility
  • Good low-temperature impact strength
  • Ability to withstand exposure to variety of fluids
  • Heat sealability (150°C to 170°C for 1-2 sec.)
