Cariflex polyisoprene products are designed to provide advanced benefits and replace NR for molding medical products such as surgical gloves, tube connectors, IV bag, medical stoppers, balloon catheters, needle shields, dental dams and cohesive bandages. Medical products – such as surgical gloves – based on Cariflex latex materials have a soft, skin-like feel that balances strength and reliable protection with an elastic, comfortable fit that easily contours to specific shapes. Cariflex solid polyisoprenes, typically used for molded parts such as stoppers and connectors, offer the added features of high resealability with minimal coring to reduce leakage risks.
Available in both solid and latex forms, Cariflex products are manufactured through our advanced anionic polymerization process, which eliminates impurities that causes discoloration and odor. The resulting high molecular weight polyisoprenes are free of the naturally occurring proteins that characterize NR latex and can trigger Type 1 allergic reactions.
Cariflex products are easy to process with the same equipment and methods used for traditional natural rubber including dip molding, compression and injection molding, and extrusion.
