Lower Carbon Footprint for Decorative Coatings

Our SYLFAT™ tall oil fatty acids provide greater hardness, faster drying, excellent outdoor durability and low yellowing to the alkyd based decorative paints. Kraton Corporation’s tall oil based alkyd binders generate only 15% CO2 emissions compared to vegetable-oil based alternatives. As a result Kraton Corporation enables the coatings industry to decrease its carbon footprint while increasing performance. Having its roots in pine chemicals, SYLFAT™ is the sustainable fatty acid for the coatings industry.

Rheology Control in Alkyds

Our dimer acid based UNI-REZ™ thixotropic polyamides provide non-drip performance, ease of use, polar solvent resistance and increased control of rheology for alkyd formulators.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) Regulation

Kraton Corporation’s recent innovation, a novel tall oil technology used in alkyd emulsions and high solid alkyds, enables coating formulators to comply with the VOC requirements of the coatings industry while increasing performance. The technology provides cycle time savings, almost zero VOC emissions, faster drying and early hardness while not requiring co-solvent usage.
